The Vegas Blisters

By nottryingforaboy | February 25, 2008

I went to Vegas for the first time a few years ago. We stayed at the Venetian. I really wanted to stay there and begged and pleaded until LushMan gave in LushMan generously proved his love for me by booking a room there. It was a very nice hotel and we had a great trip. Since we were Vegas virgins, we tried to do it all. We walked through all the hotels on the Strip, we saw some shows, and we ate good food.

This trip was all about meeting my friends and having fun.

But before we talk about that, let’s discuss my Stupid Move #1 of the trip. I bought new shoes Monday to wear on Tuesday. EVERY single time I wear brand new shoes, I get a blister. I forgot all about it. Stupid Move #2 was wearing the shoes barefoot. At O’Hare Airport, before we even go through check-in, I had a raging blister. I couldn’t find socks anywhere, but at the little Brookstone store at O’Hare, I found a pair of n.a.p travel socks. Comfy, but not exactly smart either because they were so THICK. But I needed a layer between my feet and shoes. My pants were brown capris and now I was wearing these huge, thick, blue socks. It was quite a sight.

Pretty, huh? Where did my ankles go? My feet looked pregnant again. Do you like my new shoes hiding in the upper corner though? That is most important.

I did see something very pretty though outside our window. In all my years of traveling on a plane, I’ve never seen such a strong definition of clouds versus blue sky as we saw that day. It didn’t even look real. I know the picture doesn’t do it justice.

Once we landed, I took off the blue socks. After all, I was meeting my friends for the first time IRL. I couldn’t have these blue grandma socks on no matter how much my foot was already bleeding. We took a taxi to our hotel, the Bellagio where the majority of us were staying.

So, we went to check in and the plan was to meet up for lunch with everyone since we were the last to arrive …. (to be cont.)

hi! i just wandered over from p.w.’s and wanted to say that i think the shoes are awesome and i’m sure they’re worth the pain. also i didn’t think the blue socks were so bad, at least you weren’t wearing them with sandals! hope you “heel” fast! (i’m so sorry for that btw!) :)
