My birthday day

By nottryingforaboy | April 21, 2008

It has been a little over a week since my birthday, and I haven’t gotten around to blogging about it. So, a good time is now. I woke up to my girls saying “it’s your birthday, Mom!” Thanks, sweeties, but could you let me sleep in a bit? Didn’t happen.

LushMan took the oldest two to their sports class in the morning and I was home alone with TheYoungest. I was getting her out of her high chair, slipped on the high chair tray which I had stupidly put on the floor. I started falling with the baby in my arms and could not catch myself. I ended up doing the splits like I’ve never done before (um, not athletic, thankyouverymuch), and falling forward. I had to make a quick decision to either fall on top of the baby or drop her onto our hardwood. I ended up dropping her a few inches so I could catch myself which I did, right on top of her.

Then she and I cried for a while. Happy Birthday to me, huh?

Neither of us were hurt too badly. She had no bruising and my back and legs (the insides ripped when I split) were only sore a few days. But, oh, the Catholic guilt I feel for dropping her…

That night, LushMan took me out to dinner at the Melting Pot. It was nice to get dressed up and go out with just the two of us. When we got there, we had a drink at the bar. I had a Chocolate Cherry Martini- heaven in a glass. When it was time for us to be seated, there was a beautiful bouquet of roses at our table.

The roses still look good a week later! It was so nice to be able to have a quiet, leisurely dinner with my husband. It has been a long time since we’ve done that and it was well overdue. And very much enjoyed and appreciated.

Dinner was very yummy. We had the Spinach Artichoke Cheese Fondue with bread and veggies. Then I had the California Salad. For our entrée fondue, we picked the Court Bouillon vegetable broth. We had lobster, beef, pork, chicken, vegetables, mmm, my mouth is watering now.

The best was dessert, the Flaming Turtle Fondue. “Milk chocolate, caramel and chopped pecans, flambéed tableside.” You would think that with all that other food, there would be no room for dessert, but as I told LushMan, dessert goes into a completely different spot in the stomach than regular food.

It was a wonderful evening.

Happy Birthday!! I had to click on your blog when I saw the title! I am the mom to 4 boys, and always get “Are they all yours?”, followed by “Going to go for that girl?”. Anyway, don’t feel too bad about dropping the kid. I just did it as well and actually posted the pic on my blog (much to my mother’s horror. Whatever.” http://drboymom.blogspot.com/2008/04/yep.html

I know all about falling and dropping those kids! Just did it at the beach last week. Hope you heel soon!! I love the Melting Pot! It is one of my FAVORITE restaurants. We have to drive an hour to get to one…but it is so worth the drive.
