Is it because I have three kids?

By nottryingforaboy | May 9, 2008

Whenever I’m asked how it was going from two to three, I have always replied that it was easier than going from one to two.

Then I explain that my first two were 13 months apart at a time in our lives where LushMan was at Kellogg for his MBA, working full time and traveling a bunch for work. We were lucky to see him one evening a week and one full weekend day. Having two kids in 13 months in that time was rough. He finished school when TheOldest was about 3 and a half. Around the same time, his job changed and the constant travel stopped.

Now there is a three and a half year difference between TheMiddleChild and TheYoungest. I can ask for help from the older two (”get me a diaper”, “don’t let her fall/eat that/etc.”) and TheOldest is always happy to help. TheMiddleChild usually says “No.” in her how-dare-you-ask-me-to-do-that Drama queen ways, but whatever. So, honestly, going from two to three has been a simple transition.

But what hasn’t been simple is how sick I’ve been since she’s been born. Since September, I have had strep throat twice, an ear infection, a stomach bug and countless colds. I’m getting sick of it.

Off to wallow in my own self-misery with my runny nose and tissue box.

I agree that 2 to 3 was easy for me. So, I was surprised at how tough 3 to 4 has been! Bummer about always getting sick. I honestly think that families have good winters and bad winters. I bet next year will be better for you!

I’ve always thought that going from two to three was easier than one to two also. :)

I’m sorry that you’ve been sick so much - this winter was bad for us too, so I’m hoping it was just a fluke.

You really have been sick a lot in the last eight months or so. I feel for you. It’s frustrating enough getting sick that much…not even counting the fact that you have three kids to take care of as well!
