Veggie Box - Week 3
By nottryingforaboy | July 7, 2008
I’m late getting this out, but last Thursday was another day for my CSA box. Christmas in July I tell ya. I can’t begin to explain how fun it is to go through those boxes. You have an idea of what you’re going to get, but you aren’t 100% sure. And to see how fresh it is. Nothing really compares. My mom was over when this latest box came and she dug into the kohlrabi. She said it was so fresh, it was like butter. It brought back some memories for her too just like it did for me- as my grandparents use to grow it.
Since we were going to my mom and dad’s for a BBQ on the 4th, we brought some of the veggies over there.

Kale, once again. Still not a favorite of our families, but I’m looking into a few different recipes.

Young Chard

baby turnips

Cabbage

Green onions- Brought those to my mom’s for the salad.

Summer squash. My favorite.

Broccoli

Beets

Cucumber was also brought to my parents’ house for the salad.

Lemon Balm

Kohlrabi. Another favorite.

Garlic Scapes. Given to my mom.

3 heads of lettuce, one brought to my mom.

Radishes.

I’m very envious of your box!
My mother-in-law sent me some fresh veggies from her garden and I’m trying to make them last! So, yummy!

Although I am quite jealous of all the wonderful veggies you have pictured here (truly), I want some dirty baby pictures!
I’m hosting a carnival of dirty babies next week and I’d love for you to join! Show the blogosphere that girls can get dirty, too!
LOL!

How much fun! I miss getting a big box of goodies like that from my co-op. Makes me want to start up again.
Thanks for letting me lurk on your blog! You do have three beautiful children.
